President/CEO/Executive Director
My name is Christopher D. Handy and I am the President/CEO/Executive Director of I.C.A.N. (Innovative Community Action Network) a 501 (c) 3 Non-Profit Organization located in Monroe, Louisiana. I believe I.C.A.N. will be the most effective program in the midst of a believing community with active participation by caring individuals.
The People and at-risk youths of today are fighting THE fight of their lives! They fight against hopelessness, despair, social injustices, poverty, homelessness, violence, decaying communities, the lack of structure, a solid family foundation, and most importantly Love. They are trying to survive and in the midst of all of this maintain hope.
I.C.A.N. has been in the trenches for over six years reaching out to people of all ages, races, nationalities, creed, and religions in Monroe and the world. I.C.A.N. was created for this sole purpose which is to reach out to all people and empower them to better themselves and the world around them.
I am encouraged that I.C.A.N. will tear down barriers and bring people together for the good of humanity. I want to minister to the whole person and through this program reach those who are in need. I am very happy and proud that so far a small group of families from I.C.A.N. has been able to raise them-selves from poverty to being productive citizens within their communites. Youths from the mentoring program have gone from statistics to being peer mentors. However, there is more work to be done and more lives to be saved. This is why we need your help and support to change the lives of those who suffer and who are disenfranchised. There is hope but until we promote that hope, hope is useless.
I encourage you today to join us and become part of I.C.A.N. and Together We Can Change The World Around Us. There is a quote from a famous poet George Bernard Shaw that describes my passion. “You See Things As They Are And Say Why; I Dream Things That Never Were And Say Why Not.” The world needs hope! This hope can only come from those of us who truly believe that we can change the world. So join us in our efforts to change the world and make it a better place for all of mankind.
